We found the apartment to be clean and comfortable. The furnishings were bright and cheerful, but the apartment needed a lick of paint. We stayed in a one-bedroomed apartment, and our two sons slept on a sofa bed and a deluxe-style camp bed - and both slept soundly! There is no air conditioning at Sun Park, so we slept with the windows open which wasn't a problem because there were no mosquitos around. The maid service was a bit hitty-missy. It is obvious to all guests that the cleaners take much longer to clean apartments occupied by Spanish families! There are 4 pools set in the grounds - two paddling pools and two deeper ones. The pools were kept as clean as possible, bearing in mind the amount of trees and shrubs around the complex. The reception staff could have been a little friendlier, but the maintenance staff were very helpful and friendly. We did have a problem with ants in the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. My husband was given a spray from Reception and this got rid of them. There is a games room for children which was very poor. On the complex there are 6 pool tables with only one white ball and one triangle! The tables regularly swallowed our €1, but Reception staff reimbursed us every time.

We were staying on a self-catering basis, but we did go down for a buffet breakfast each morning - excellent value at only €11.90 for 2 adults and 2 children. There was a great variety of foods, and something for everyone. We also ate in the buffet restaurant a couple of times in the evening. This was excellent value at only €30 for 2 adults and 2 children. The choose was vast and good quality food was served. The restaurant comes highly recommended. If you are on a tight budget the Sun Park Restaurant is the place to eat.

We did eat out in Playa Blanca most evenings and found the restaurants much cheaper than Minorca, where we went last year.

The apartments are a 5-10 minute walk from the promenade and situated centrally between the Marina Rubicon and the Ferry Terminal. Along the promenade you will find lots of restaurants and bars that caters for all tastes. There are plenty of souvenir shops, but Playa Blanca does lack some quality shops. The Marina Rubicon is an up and coming area and well worth a visit. There are some lovely shops and cafes/bars here. Visit Lanis for excellent food, but sometimes if they are busy the service is rather poor. The beach is lovely and clean, and the sea is good for paddling and swimming. But please beware, there is a breeze and you don't realise how hot the sun really is - lots of people were suffering from sunburn - so remember to apply sunscreen regularly.

Playa Blanca is ideal for families and couples who don't want a bustling night life. We left Playa Blanca with a heavy heart, but we will return one day.
