Terrazamar Suite: Great fun for young groups by Mike Nel |
| Posted 14 September 2008 about a visit in September 2008 | Overall rating: 8.0 |
The service is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and adequate with nice balconies. The location is great for the clubs and bars. The pool area has plenty of sun loungers, coupled with a snack bar and plenty of entertainment and activities, e.g. water polo, 5 a side footy. The evening entertainment is pure cheese but great fun, put on by very friendly staff who will make you feel really welcome and show you the places to have a great time in the town. The beach is a bit of a walk though. Overall, 8 out of 10 for a group of early twenty somethings looking for a week of fun in the sun before heading back to work / university!

Terrazamar Suite: GREAT HOLIDAY by David Fraser |
| Posted 18 July 2007 about a visit in June 2007 | Overall rating: 8.4 |
Arrived at 23.00hrs after an 8 and half hour delay but were pleased with the friendly and helpful welcome. We go to Puerto Rico about 3 times a year and have stayed in various locations. These are by far the best accomodation we have had. The block is kept very clean, great pool with plenty of loungers to choose from. Poolside Bar open from 9 to 5 with food and drinks at reasonable prices. Also bar & restaurant open at night with various entertainment. Rooms cleaned every day but two. Apartments well equipped with large shower, double wardrobes in the bedroom (you may need to bring a few extra hangers). Kitchen has hob, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, microwave, fridge. There is a small shop in the reception area for basics (the large bottles of drinking water is cheaper than in the supermarket). The shopping centre (for supermarkets, bars and restaurants is only a 10min walk away. A great bonus were the ceiling fans in two rooms in the apt. If you are someone who has been to Puerto Rico before I would recommend you give these apts a try !

Terrazamar Suite: Best time ever!!!! by Kym Parker |
| Posted 22 July 2006 about a visit in June 2006 | |
Trip was for: Group of friends Holiday
Visit again? Definitely
| Fantastic, absolutely perfect for a group of 16, eighteen year olds!! All four apartments were attached and we were able to climb over the walls and hang out oneach others balconys, dont know if it was allowed or not but it was fun!! The bath room was amazing, for the price that we paid i never expected these apartments to be soo good!! The shower was huge, and there was plenty of room to get changed, you dont end up in the sink tryin to get dressed!! the mirrir was huge and you get a rack of 4 drawers to keep your toiletries in! Perfect for 4 girls sharing a room! The bedroom was a great size where two of us slept and the wardrobes accomodated all four of us and if you think of the amount of clothes 4 girls will take on holiday with them then that should tell you the amount of space there was!! The Kitchen was great, the utensils were perfect for cooking up sum grub for our late night munchies!! And the sofa with the pull out bed was great and really comfy!! And probably my favourite thing about the apartment was the sheer size of the balcony, all 16 of us were on ours at one point and we fitted perfectly!! There was a great view and a great atmosphere!! we arrived at around 2 in the morning and the reception was really clean and fresh and the people were really welcoming considering it was 2 in the morning and they were faced with 16 teens awake on only adrenaline and excitement!! The pool was great and we never had any bother getting sun beds!! there was a slight shortage of umbrellas sumtimes tho! The poolside cafe was really good loved the ham and cheese and bacon baguettes!! yummy! The area was brilliant just a 2 minute walk from the apartments was the shopping centre with great bars......BORA BORA WE LOVE YOU!!! THANK YOU GRAN CANARIA FOR INTRODUCING US TO GETS NOCH.......THE BROOMSTICK SONG!!!! snoopys is also a great bar!!! met a waiter from scotland, which is hwere we're from!! The restaurants were smashing and we made friends with a waiter called Llutvay! the chinese buffet was also really tasty!! look out for the men in drag who walk about they was fantastic, kinda scary tho!! but yeah, it was definetly the best holiday ever!! and i dont know what people are complaining about with the stairs back up to the apartment they were great fun to run up and burn off all the alcohol and hotdogs and pizzas we ate!! But yes i wouls definetly come back i know i am coming back this year cant wait!!! wouldnt come with my family but it was brilliant for my age group!! absolutley worth the money! FIVE STARS!!!

Terrazamar Suite: Eva Harris by Eva Harris |
| Posted 31 January 2006 about a visit in May 2005 | |
I have been to Puerto Rico since 1994 every year but two.
I have stayed in a number of Hotels and Private apartments, the apartrment I have used for the past 5 visits was booked up so I found Terraza Mar on the Internet.
Myself, my Husband and two daughters arrived around ten at night, to walk into a lovely clean reception, the night porter was very helpful and welcoming.
We stayed on the forth floor, on entering the apartment, what a shock, clean, comfortable tastefully decorated, and fans on the ceiling!! then the kitchen, well equiped, spotless and basically fine for a woman that is fond of a bleached/well scrubbed kitchen.
The bathroom had a nice vanity unit with well light mirror for doing your hair and make-up, large shower made for two (well what's a holiday for).
The balcony was large and we had no problem with only 2 sunbeds or 2 chairs, we were out at the pool or the beach, and as for 2 chairs at the table, can people not use their heads and shift two from the aparment for the small amount of time you would be sat there.
We paid for the t.v. 15 euros was fine, kept the kids happy 1st thing and just before bed which was about all the time we were in the apartments for, as we were at the bar upstairs, good food, the entertainment was brilliant, a family ran that side of it, what lovely people, didn't make you feel like just another punter.
We had friends stay at a private apartment and they were gutted they didn't book with us, they enjoyed coming up to Terraza Mar to join in and use facilities, which was not a problem with the staff.
I have been to all restaurants and bars in Puerto Rico over the years, they have all been good, yes you get the lookie lookie lot, you will find that most of the restaurant staff discourage them from pestering, if not, just say no or ignore them.
I find the British touts most annoying, trying to drag you in here and there, some don't know when to shut up or take no for an answer, which has lead me to get a wee bit angry to say the least, but hey again you learn just ignore them, the soon go away.
This year we didn't need to bother with the centre, we either headed straight along the path from the apartments to the beach, about 15 mins walk, taxi back, or stayed at the apartments which had a relaxed hassle free atmosphere, I will be going there again, our flights were booked seperatley, it cost me about £17 per night, what more could you ask for, and a laundry room too.
For those who thought it was too hot at night, IT'S THE CANARIES!!!, ask for a room with ceiling fans, air conditioning, or simple, don't go.
Mark and Debbie who organise the entertainment, keep up the good work, what a place for a family, good on ya.
Oh and forgot, the bedrooms, real pillows, yipee, comfy, not the usual old army beds you usually get either. Large wardrobes enough space for all our stuff.

Terrazamar Suite: We enjoyed our stay by Hayley Prior |
| Posted 19 October 2005 about a visit in August 2005 | |
Arrived to the apartments late in the night so we just dumped our things and went for a look about.
We were probably situated in the best place having 2 young children. Having a pushchair we did't find it too much trouble, the main centre was literally 3 minutes walk away with just one set of steps which we were surprised at.
The room was amazing and a chilled bottle of water was placed in the fridge on arrival, in addition to this the balcony was absolutely huge! with a great view. The only downside was no air conditioning not even a ceiling fan, we had to keep the bedroom window open at night as it was so hot and I was a bit worried about that as I did see a few cockroaches around.
The beach was about 10 mins walk away and if you want a good steak visit the Las Vegas Restaraunt you have never seen a steak like it in your life it literally covers the plate!
Terraza Mar Sunsuites was quite expensive for drinks 4.50 euros a pint but if you go in the centre you can get one for 90 cents!!!
We also went to a fabulous man made beach called Anfi Del Mar, we were stopped by a British lady asking us to go there with all expenses paid and free tickets to Aqualand, it was like the Caribbean with a catch, they try to sell you a Timeshare but I have to say it was worth it, we had a fabulous time on the beach there and had free tickets to the water park which saved us a hell of a lot of money.
We spent a lot of our time in the Terraza Mar Suites which is the first phase of these apartments, they were directly across the road, they had lots of good childrens entertainment which the main commercial centre did'nt have, it was mostly bars and restaraunts where my 3 year old son got bored.
All in all we enjoyed our stay at Terraza Mar Sunsuites

Good, clean and overall lovely accomadation. It was a last minute deal and payed 250pp so we wasnt really expecting that much n was overwhelmed at how nice it all was.
We were on a late night flight n arrived at the sunsuites at about 4-5am. Check-in was fast n we were given cards to our room. Our room was in phase 2, and we were at the opposite end of the hotel to the lifts but this didnt bother us really as there were steps at the side of our room that went up the pool but also down to the street at the bottom. When using the lift, you have to swap at level 8 and then go to a different one to go up the the rest of the rooms and most importantly the pool, bar and resturant.
There is no air conditioning offered but we were not really bothered by this as there were fans in all of the rooms.
Really nice hotel adn would reccommend to everyone, there is the hotel bar which centres more for children and the commercial centre is down some steps and all the bars and clubs are there.
The bar has discos and entertainment every nighht and also, the resturant has a different theme night every night and even do a buffet breakfast in the morning so you can eat as much as you like before going for a day of sunshine.
The commerical centre has loads of shops as well as bars, clubs and resturants, however, the biggest downfall of the commerical centre is that the bars adn resturants allow people to come in and try to sell you things. I found them extremely annoying especially when they sat down with you. However all is not bad, there is a drag show on every night in the commerical centre and i would really recommend going to it - it's hilarious!!!
Reps are fantastic too, we travlled with thomson and the reps are the best ove ever had anywhere at all the acoomadation ive stayed at!!!

Arrived late at night. Got into hotel room right away.
Room was spotlessly clean, and was surprised to see a huge balcony.
Cleaners cleaned room everyday.
Great to see fans in the two rooms of our apartment.
Tv cost 15 Euros for the week. Which i personally preffered rather then having to put a euro in the slot every 30 mins like i have done in the past in various hotels.
The pool was a very enjoyable experience too. Loads and loads of sun loungers.
Only down side was the apartments were about 15 mins away from the beach. But an enjoyable walk to get there, the taxis only cost 2 euros to get back.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Terrazamar Suite and we would consider staying again.

The room was very good, Balcony very well sized, only 2 sun loungers on it which was a shame as there was 4 of us.
We refused to pay for the TV after hearing the people next door had theirs free, someone left the key in it. Pool cafe a bit on the dear side for ice creams etc.
We stayed on the top floor and could over look the builders below who started work at 8am daily.
Bit of a walk back up from the complex after a few drinks.
The reataurante Mephito has the best T-Bone steak, i've had in ages. Staff really good, a woman from the uk was really helpful.
Sadly i didn't enjoy the lookie lookie men and will not return. I will return to Menorca next holiday.
If you have been to Puero Rico before the Terraza Mar is a nice place to stay, not with young children as they climb over the walls into the next Balcony. We eneded up with the kids form next door often playing with our childrens stuff. (Good job they were a really nice family!!)

Terrazamar Suite: Good Holiday by Stuart Grant |

We stayed here for 2 weeks in August 2005.
There are two Buildings, we were in the newest phase which
had 9 floors of apartments with the swimming pool on the 10th Floor
and the restaurant / bar on the 11th.
The apartments were clean and spacious with a large balcony.
The swimming pool was very clean.
There is lots of activities arranged by the tour operator to keep
folks amused during the day around the pool.
We thought that these aparments would be well suited for families.
I couldn't really fault these aparments as they probably the best / newest
in puerto Rico.
*****
Things they could improve on / Things we noticed
The bar at the poolside is much more expensive for beer than the bar in the
ground floor reception.
The rooms are very warm in the evening.
There did appear to be stones falling from the Cliffs above to the
Sun Bathing area,
We only ate in the hotel once for Breakfast at the poolside bar, this wasn't good but
it is only a 10 - min stroll to the main center where there are countless places to eat.
And with these apartments being New they are nice and clean to make snacks in
the kitchen which is well equiped.
All the pavements in Gran Canaria or broken / loose / missing which is a real hazzard.
* * * * *
Good points
Great location, only 5 minutes walk from the commercial center, there
isn't as much steps up to the complex as compared to most properties in
Puerto Rico.
There is a coin operated laundry on site.
Loads of activities for Children on the Poolside and the evening entertainment
is Family orientated.
Puerto Rico has many Restaurants, every where we tried was good, we tended to steer
clear of the Restaurants that pestered passers by to come in.
* * * * *
If I were to Holiday again in Gran canaria I would probably stay at these apartments.
If you ared planning a Holiday to Puerto Rico or any where in Gran Canaria make sure you visit Sioux City western theme park on the Friday evening, its a little bit expensive but a great
night, ensure you get there early. There is a BBQ and all the Alcohol you can tackle included in the price. ( I had a Hangover on the saturday )

Terrazamar Suite: Wow by Peter Fulthorpe |
| Posted 09 September 2005 about a visit in July 2005 | |
Just got back from the Sunsuites, amazing. Don't have a bad word to say.
Been to Puerto Rico 4 times now, these are by far the best apartments I have stayed in.
Yes it is hot on a night but what do you think it's going to be like? It's the canaries and its August.
Great entertainment day and night and the bar downstairs was great for a chill. The rooms were big and balconies even bigger, if you didn't fancy the pool there was everything in the room. 2 sunloungers, a table and chairs and a parasol on the balcony. A microwave toaster and kettle in the kitchen. Massive shower, couldn't fault it at all.
Puerto Rico itself is amazing, thats why we keep going back. 90 cents for a pint €2.50 for a breakfast with a cup of tea. Any kind of pub or club you want all in the main commercial centre at the bottom. The water park is great as well just been refurbished but even better than before now, the reps don't encourage you to go because they have trips to the main one but i think Puerto Rico's is better, no queueing (there is a big ride at the main one but you have to queue for up to an hour). The food is much cheaper at Puerto Rico's aqua park as well and better, so I think its much better value for money, we went to both and enjoyed puerto rico much more.
The beach is great but busy and the sea in the bay is calm as it is sheltered. If you get chance to see the dolphins go ,it is amazing but be prepared for a bumpy ride. All in all can't fault it we are going back next year, already booked.

Terrazamar Suite: Just being honest by Jonathan Hope |
| Posted 26 August 2005 about a visit in July 2005 | Overall rating: 5.5 |
Personally, I dont know what all the fuss is about with this place, having just come back from 2 weeks at Terraza Mar, I found the non air conditioned rooms shocking and the fact that you had to pay extra for everything including t.v and fans even worse.
Its the first place I've stayed in where they dont even have fans on the ceilings in any of the rooms and when temperatures were still well above 30 at night time we were left with little choice but to pay the 15 euros with a 5 euro deposit for the postage stamp sized fan that was neither use nor ornament.
I will say this, the rooms were certainly big enough and kept reasonably clean and the balcony was the size of a small country but to say these apartments are the nicest I've visited would be far from the truth.
The pool side area was adequate, again clean and tidy but during our stay, work was being carried out to fix broken floor tiles that seemed to take the entire two weeks of our holiday. We were also constantly reminded that people were struggling to find sun beds, this i found out was down to the fact that the number of guests far out numbered the beds availaible- maybe an investment in some new sun loungers would be an idea.
Also, get fit before you go, the steps into the main centre are a killer if you have kids in push chairs. It is possible to go across the street to the slightly older complex, use their lift and go out the back gate onto the path into the main centre but the only problem is that you cant get back in with the room cards for the new complex.
All little things, you might say but its the little things that are the difference between quality accomodation and mediocre, which is how I would describe Terraza Mar. 6/10 at best.

Terrazamar Suite: Terrazza Mar SUNSUITES by Diane Davidson |
| Posted 23 August 2005 about a visit in July 2004 | Overall rating: 10.0 |
Fantastic. This place is only 8 months old opened December 2004. The only fault I could find was that there is no air conditioning which would have made a huge difference in the 30 degree night time heat. However these apartments are clean, very spacious and have have huge balconies. The whole apartment measures 45m2 and the balcony takes up 25m of that! Pool spacious but slightly spoilt by the brits who seem to have the overtaken the germans in the reserving sunbed competition.
Good selection of restaurants in the commercial centre ate in 12 different places in 14 nights and didn't have a bad meal.
There is building work going on in front of the older terrazzamar suites and behind the sunsuites but we were on level 5 of 10 and didn't hear too much noise in the frotnight depite work going on every day apart from Sunday.I would highly recommend these apartments.

Hi we have just returned from the sunsuites and we really enjoyed our visit.
In answer to Graemes question about the balconies they are stepped but we didn't find that a problem we stayed on the 9th floor there was only one floor above and very rarely felt as though people were watching over us. We found the apartments were very warm at night but if you ask at reception they should put one fan in your apartment for you. you can also rent further fans from reception for 15 euros a week or do as we did and go and buy one in the commercial centre for 22euros. We brought our fan home in a suitcase. We really enjoyed our stay at the Sunsuites the hotel staff were very friendly and as everyone who has stayed there will tell you the balconies are huge. I would stay there again, but will say we only had lunch at the pool bar once-we didn't enjoy it. We preffered to go across the road to the Terrazamar suites and have lunch by the pool there the food was much better and the staff were very friendly there. Hope this helps.

We stayed at Terraza mar Suites for 2 weeks in July . When we reached the apartment we were very impressed, on first glance. The reception was very clean and big, in the reception you have a safe room, mini shop, and computers with internet access, we arrived just after 3pm so I did not take long to get checked in. We where allocated on the 5th floor, which was good as the reception and pool, and bar is on the 6th floor. When we got down to the apartment we were pleased that it was clean and a reasonable size for our family. In the bathroom you have a big sized shower, and plenty of cupboard space, and a hair dryer, in the kitchen you have a microwave, 2 cooking rings, and a fridge which has a bottle of water in on arrival, and in the bedroom you have 2 comfortable single beds, and 2 waldrobes which had more than enough space for all our clothes. The apartments have a ceiling fan in both the bedroom and in the living room, both the bedroom and the living room have doors the lead you onto the balcony. The balcony is very big that has 3 sunbeds, table and 3 chairs and a parasol and has a clothes rack. From the bslcony you can see the commercial centre and the water park. On a friday night there is a all you can eat barbcue which was quite nice, as my kids are fussy about food, and they had this for the 2 weeks that we were there. I would defently go back to Terraza Mar Suites, and would recommend this apartment to anyone.

Terrazamar Suite: FANTASTIC HOL! by Hazel Bews |
| Posted 31 May 2005 about a visit in April 2005 | Overall rating: 9.5 |
Have just returned from a weeks holiday staying in the Terraza Mar Sunsuites and completly amazed at the accommodation - it was perfect in everyway!!
The apartments are a reasonable size with nice furnishings and kept very clean, comfy beds, well equiped kitchen but the best is the Balcony which is absolutely awesome, they are massive with your own sun loungers and parasole - I think my friends are fed up of hearing about me bragging about the accommodation!!!!
The Pool is also great with entertainment provided daily by the fun loving reps! We never sampled the restaurant food however they had themed nights every night offering something to suit all tastes!
The center is a short walk away and has some fantastic restaurants and bars - especially the Irish ones which have live music every night.
All together Puerto Rico has once again proved to be the ideal location for a hol however the accommodation at the Terazza Mar Sunsuites made it even better!

Terrazamar Suite: Great Overall Accommodation by Melanie Scott |
| Posted 26 May 2005 about a visit in April 2005 | Overall rating: 9.0 |
We've just come back from staying at the Terraza Mar Sunsuites we were on the 4th floor of the new block, with the swimming pool, kiddies pool/play area, kiddies clubs and pool bar all on the 10th foor, 3 lifts available(in good working order).
Our room was very clean and well equipped with a kettle, toaster, 2 rings, microwave and even a bottle of water in the fridge. Bedroom was a good size with 2 large built in wordrobes. The balcony was massive, with 2 sun loungers and table and chairs.
The appartments are located 5 mins from the large commercial centre, were we ate in a few times, Churchills being the best, with a great kids menu. We also ate a fews nights down by the beach in a resturant called Oscar's, but if there is a large party you would need to book in advance as it is full every night, great food!
The Terraza Mar Sunsuites resturant had a themed buffet every night which didn't really appeal to my family. We ate at the pool snack bar which was ok.
There was entertainment on every night at the Terraza Mar Sunsuites with kiddies disco, bingo and showtime, was a little bit quiet but I would say it will pick up now over the next few months.
I would highly recommend these appartments to anyone going out to Puerto Rico.

The Terrazamar is not far up the mountain - 69 steps between there & the shopping centre or a 5/10 minute walk downhill (avoiding the steps) takes you right to the beach. Great location - everything is within EASY walking distance, but far enough away to be nice & quiet.

Puerto Rico harbour/beach area is about a 5/10 minute walk from the Terrazamar. Amodores is further away, but does have a lovely beach too.
