Tivoli Almansor: Tivoli Almansor - Carvoeiro by Dianne Quinn |

Hotel
We stayed at the Almansor in July 2005 and I would return again and again. A popular haunt for Americans, Canadians, British & Irish. The Portuguese even stayed there so it must be good ! The staff are very friendly, helpful, polite and hard working, the facilities are fantastic. I would recommend upgrading to a Sea View room as the panoramic sea/cove view is amazing, see pictures from our balcony. We had a large balcony and a pristine room. The only negatives if you can call it that was, the rooms, have older charm if you want the modern look this is not the hotel for you, however we loved it. The hotel food was ok but Cavoeiro itself has some fantastic restaurants within walking distance hidden away in every nook and cranny. The only thing that slightly made us laugh were the seagulls, lively buggers (not cheeky but had a few words to say every now and again!). You can even adopt one as part of the environmental programme which the hotel runs, after a while the sound just blended in with the sea !
Hotel Activities
The hotel has an excellent children's programme, keeping them entertained with swimming pool activities and in the hottest part of the day other indoor/shaded activities like table tennis & archery, . For us more mature people 18yrs + they have scuba diving, tennis, squash & a games room all on site and golf can be organised at a local excellent 18 hole golf course. Other facilities in the hotel include indoor swimming pool, 2 restaurants, 2 snack bars, spa/beauty rooms, diving school & a football pitch, how could anyone get bored..
Hotel Location
The hotel is located on the edge of Carvoeiro, the town square is about a 10 min walk down a slight hill, and 15 mins back up it or 5 euro in a taxi if you get lazy.
Resort - Carvoeiro
Carvoeiro itself is lovely, its an old fishing village, great food, wine and music! You can get a really nice 3 course meal with wine & beer for two people for approx. 40 - 60 euro. It defiantly not an 18-30's location more of a chill out kind of place. In the Algarve and in Carvoeiro itself fishing, sailing, scuba diving & golf are prime activities, all can be booked at the hotel and local agents.
Resort - Algarve
It is approx. a 45 min car journey from Faro airport which cost approx. 50 euro in a taxi. Car hire is reasonable in the Algarve and all the resorts are off the main highway which are easy to find from the road signs. The more west you go the more picturesque the Algarve gets. Other places to visit include a water park, zoo, zoomarine (dolphin interaction programme) & krazyworld (crazy golf). You can also jump upon one of the many cruises around the Algarve taking in all the marine life and many coves/caves. Cruises are also available to Seville & Madeira.
What more can we say - We loved the Algarve, Cavoeiro and the Almansor and are going to book it again!
