| Torrevieja Review: much improved of late | | Written by Stuart Lawes on 31 Aug 2003 about a trip in Jun 2003.
| Torrevieja is a work in progress (so please try to ignore the T cranes;-)
The new harbour pier streches way out around the bay and makes a nice stroll as do the fancy new promenade areas. The nightly market/fairground is always worth a browse (but Usual pickpocket precautions apply).
The town is far more Spanish than most reviewers seem to think and not all ex pats are from the Uk.
Plenty of non touristy corner,Tapas and restaurant bars to chat with other Europeans out for a pleasent evening in. And Very cosmopolitain nightlife which gets busier/later at weekends and quieter either end of the very short season june 21st-sept 1st
Good late running air conditioned bus services to suburb areas ;La Mata,Los Locos Los Rosales etc
NB:Avoid Villa Martin area if you really hate golf Bores and pretentious Ex Pats!
My parents have flat there so I've become a vey familiar with this bustling town. Its far better than the blurb suggests but very quiet out of season (compared with rest of C/Blanca).
Feel free to contact me for tips , there are some GREAT restaurants, good value too! |
