Tre Archi: A gem with a vaporetto stop outside - what more could you want? by Krystyna |

This hotel is situated right on one of the canals in the Cannaregio area of Venice. A vaporetto (water bus) stop is sited just outside the hotel and this is very convenient. Two vaporettos stop outside the hotel, the number 42 and the number 52. You can go out to Murano or the cemetery island from here or back down towards the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square and these water buses are quite frequent. It is possible to walk to St. Mark's from here and it is a very interesting walk but it is quite a long way and you have to cross loads of bridges before you reach there. It only takes about ten or twelve minutes, however, to get to the Rialto Bridge from the hotel.
The hotel looked inviting from the outside and was very nicely decorated and typically Venetian inside. The reception area was beautiful and had quite spectacular Murano glass chandeliers dotted about. These might have looked over-the-top elsewhere but seemed to fit the hotel well. There is a nice seating area and a bar and breakfast is taken in the atrium restaurant, which overlooks the rear garden (something of a rarity in Venice). They didn't offer any meals other than breakfast but there are places to eat close by.
The bedrooms either face the canal or overlook the garden at the rear. Our room had a bathroom with bath tub and shower, hairdryer, direct telephone, sat Tv, minibar, safe box and air conditioning. The bedroom furniture was in keeping with the style of the property and even the mini bar was hidden inside a reproduction 18th century cabinet. The bathroom was spotlessly clean, very warm and the toiletries were placed inside a little 'treasure chest'. We had a large, family room and it was very, very spacious. It is possible to book a single, a double, a triple and a quad room. You'll probably find, as I did, that it is cheaper to book this hotel through this (DIY) site than the hotel's own site. This also means that you have a point of contact here in the UK and if something should go wrong with the booking it is easier to be found an alternative.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again as the staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good and the ease of getting around from there would take some beating.
