I booked a short trip to the Tropicana for late January. My husband was wary, given that the weather could be awful, and having never stayed at this particular hotel before. We were sooo lucky! The weather was great, but more importantly, the hotel was fantastic. We practically had the place to ourselves, apart from overnight business travellers.
The dining room had such charm. We only stayed b&b, and the breakfast was certainly worth getting out of bed for. Our room was delightful, clean, very spacious and with a balcony directly overlooking the beach. The location of the hotel is fantastic, smack in between Torremolinos and Benalmadena, with quaint Carihuela on the doorstep, a very pleasant walk out every night followed a day of relaxation.
The bar area in the hotel is very welcoming. Furnished very nicely.
I may not stay at the hotel in the height of season, and maybe not for more than seven nights, but for a short break out of mad season, I really cant wait to get back there again

My husband and I stayed at the Tropicana for a week in early Feb 2005 and were bowled over by the place. The staff are all very courteous and will do anything to oblige (especially the barman who mixes a mean martini). The room was immaculate and very spacious and the view of the sea from our balcony was everything we'd been promised.
We stayed on a half board basis. At breakfast there is a good choice of cereals, fruit, meats, cheeses etc although it did take us 3 days to discover the little hopper that housed scrambled eggs (it wasn't there every day though).
The dinner menu is fine but there was no variation all week i.e. the same choice of dishes was available every night. The choices are quite varied and all of the food we had was superb.
One of the best things about the hotel is the restaurant, which is situated right on the beach and caught the attention of everyone passing by as it is almost totally glass!!!!
We are already trying to find the time to go back!
