| Turgutreis Travel Guide: turgutreis
| | Written by Stephen Rrr on 26 Aug 2008 about a trip in Aug 2008. Trip was for a couple on holiday. Stephen Rrr would maybe visit again.
| Turgutreis shopping | 7.0 | market on a saturday which sells most items, be prepared to barter and don't start at half price as most people advise, start lower than that.
we got a bag for less than half what he was asking at first.
the shops in the resort centre are the usual type but you can get some nice presents there. it can be good to pay with english money as you get a better deal.
some more upmarket shops and stalls in the marina area
shopping for food if self catering, then always use the bigger supemarkets.
migros or minas |
Turgutreis nightlife | 6.0 | lots of cafes/bars and restaurants lots of choice
expensive along the beach front but much cheaper as you move away from there especially across the square in the more turkish area near the boats at the back of the main coast road |
Turgutreis restaurants | 7.0 | lots of food angled towards what they think the non turkish tourists want to eat. pizzas, fry ups and fish and chips etc.
but it is very easy to get authentic turkish food, this is usually cheaper aswell.
the food on the front is the most expensive and is not necessarily the best available.
sometimes the best food can be found in places that dont look the best. |
Turgutreis attractions | 5.0 | big mosque in the resort centre, really stands out as its much bigger than surroundings.
great view from the beach.sunsets to die for.
modern marina with two lighthouses.
easy to get out of resort and travel around the penninsula. |
Turgutreis day trips | | lots of day trips, mostly boat trips.
the tour operators dont always give the full info, mostly about what isn't included so be sure to ask.
some of the trips can be a very long journey especially the one to Pammukale. |
Getting to Turgutreis | | | plane to bodrum airport (approx 30km outside bodrum)and then an hour transfer to resort. |
Getting around Turgutreis | dolmus, dolmus, dolmus.
if you are travelling around penninsula always use the dolmus.
they are well maintained and cheap and regular and well signed.
tour operators will always charge a lot more for the same journey. |

| 16 Sep 2008 by Luke Davies |
Me and my mom are off to turgutreis, (la blanche hotel) any body got any advice or tell me what to expect when we get there?
we are going the end of June 2009 until the 9th of July... what is the weather like at that time? hot i hope?
thanks >> Answer this question | | | | >> | Answer 1 by Hilary Evans (25 Sep)
la blanche is very large modern and quite new. it is about 3/4 of a mile from the town. it is right on the coast and there is always lots going on there. the swimming pool is enormous, lots of restaurants and bars. you don't really need to leave the hotel. turgutreis itself is quite charming. plenty of places to eat and drink, but stay away from the beach side ones. a day trip to kos is cheap.

Turgutreis: changes in land laws |
| 19 Jul 2008 by Farzana |
Does anyone know about any changes in the law about owning property in Turgutreis? I bought a flat there a few years ago and had to form a company to buy the place. It is quite pricey to maintain a company and was wondering if the laws have changed or not as there was some speculation that it might. >> Answer this question | |

Be careful if u have a turkish bath, i had one 5 years ago & they damaged 2 of vertebra in my spine. TTA is best place 2 ask round the corner from Brothers Bar. It is very hot in jul/aug, but cool breeze, high factor needed. Have a gr8 time. im going as u come back x
