Turgutreis shopping

Shopping is great, loads of little shops. One great shop is the Emekli shop, its like a great junk shop, sells a bit of everything. Migros and Tansas are great for food shopping. The market is nice but gets to hot and crowded. Can get some great bargains if you haggle the price. I was told to start at half the price they tell you then you can negotiate from there. Best time to go is either between 8 and 9.30 am or after 4pm, then its not as hot and busy. The little clothes boutiques are great, some look expensive from outside but are actually quite reasonably priced.

Turgutreis nightlife

Jonathan, Racid and Titch who worked at Tash's bar now own brothers bar (where Unal's Bar was, opposite Radio Bar), its a great night there. Its so nice to see them have there own business now and i think they will do really well. Good Luck Guys!! Tash's Bar is another great one, the staff ken, alex, mustafa & the rest of them are all great. You get a lot of break dancing going on there too. Klass cafe bar is nice if you want somewhere small and slightly quieter to drink. Oasis Bar is very relaxing and very quiet apart from when they have live music on. Tj from Tash's Bar is now working at Radio Bar.

Turgutreis restaurants

If eating salads or fruit make sure you check whether they have been washed in bottled water as tap water can give you a bad stomachs. Same if you have ice in your drinks to. Most restaurants and bars use bottled water but its best to check.

My favourite restaurants are Uncles, Friends & Target Bar.

Target only do food in the day. They are a bar at night. Its very popular. Tugba, Akay & Kemel (Mr Bean) are great friends and They only do English food, tastes really great, especially the breakfasts. You can even have marmite, peanut butter, marmalade or jam on toast. They do lovely sandwiches to, perfect to take to the airport.

Friends restaurant is really good, the food is excellent. Service is great. Staff are really nice. They serve English or Traditional Turkish food.

But my favourite has got to be Uncles (opposite the side of Tash's Bar). Ercan, Samet, Erkan & Serkan are all so lovely. The meals are perfect, if you want something that isnt on the menu just ask them & they will do there best for you. Ive never had a bad meal in all the years ive been going there. They do the best potato croquettes & cacik ive ever tasted. They do English or Traditional Turkish Food. There Toilets are really clean to.

Turgutreis attractions

The Beach infront of Sunset House Restaurant is very clean, the staff will bring your drinks and food over to your sunbed if you wish. The park just past the new marina is really nice and they have a nice restaurant there to.

Turgutreis day trips

There are plenty of boat trips to go on. You either go to camel beach or gumusluk. They are £10 each person, that includes your meal on the boat and a cup of tea/coffee in the afternoon. You pay for the rest of your drinks before you arrive back at end of the day. its well worth it. Personally i think thomas boat is the best, they have a really nice crew and a nice size boat. There are plenty of excursions to go on, ie, ephesus, pammukale (the best, so relaxing), dalyan which are all very good. Be careful if you visit a turkish bath, the staff can be quite heavy handed when massaging.

Getting to Turgutreis

On the Plane its 3 and half to 4 hours from Gatwick to Bodrum. Then an hours journey to Turgutreis.

Getting around Turgutreis

Walking, dolmus or taxi. The Dolmus is very cheap but they do squeeze rather alot of people on them. Taxi's are reasonable prices to. If you need a taxi to pick you up from the bar, ask one of the staff and they will be happy to call one for you.

When to visit Turgutreis

July and August are the two hottest months sometimes reaching 130 F. May, June and September are really nice.
