| Turunc Review: Pelin hotel | | Written by Mike Lynn on 07 Aug 2005 about a trip in Jun 2005.
| This was our first time in Turkey and we chose a week in Turunc after reading that it was a 'quieter' resort than Marmaris / Iczmela, which it most certainly is.
Weather was blisteringly hot (would not recommend July / August unless you can stand the heat) but we still had a wonderful time.
We stayed at the Pelin Hotel which is very nicely situated on the outskirts of Turunc. The best part about the hotel is the very attractive bar / restaurant / pool area. You can happily while away the day here in its most beautiful and peaceful surroundings.
Eating out in Turunc is fantastic. We ate at a different restaurant almost every night, usually overlooking the sea. Sometimes we had three or even four simple courses, counting 'mezzas', (plus a cup of the local beer) and the bill never came to more than 20 TL (about 8 UKP) per head.
The only trip we did was the 'Blue Cruise' but this is a must for any visitor (with the exception of families with small children, or non-swimmers) to the area. A full days entertainment including a BBQ on the boat, again for just 10 UKP.
We also spent two full days at the nearby village of Amos. The first day we took a taxi (You can also get there by boat but the times are more restrictive) but the second day we chose to walk. If you are reasonably fit you can do this comfortably in an hour but of course leave early in the morning (before 9) and return after 6 to avoid the hottest part of the day. The views on the walk across to Amos are superb.
All in all Turunc is highly recommended for a beautiful holiday by the sea but look carefully at the average temperatures before you go. |
