Valencia Travel Guide: Valencia - beautiful!

Written by Phil Smith 2 on 28 Nov 2006 about a trip in May 2006.
Trip was for a couple on short break. Phil Smith 2 would definitely visit again.

Valencia shopping

5.0
Shopping was not the main reason for our visit but there looked to be a good selection from very chic to run of the mill clothes.

Valencia restaurants

7.0
Reataurants varied from back street bars selling typical spanish lunches at very reasonable prices to very swish "nouvelle cuisine" places which were frankly poor value for money although the one we visited (tapas downstairs and main meals upstairs) was very rustic and pleasant.

Valencia attractions

Valencia has everything and the best thing to do is get on the open top bus tour to see where everything is and to hop off wherever you fancy.

The beach is lovely and the best way to reach it is by the Tram which is very clean, cheap and frequent.

Valencia events

We were there during the Fiesta de la Virgen de los Desemparados involving a huge picture made from flowers, a lovely (if very long) procession and, on the Sunday afternoon a setting of of fireworks which shook the ground and pressed on your eardrums!

Getting to Valencia

We flew to Valencia airport and took a taxi into the city (around €20 from memory).

It seemed very easy.

Getting around Valencia

The best way is on foot to get the most of the sights and atmosphere.

The open topped buses are not cheap but tickets last 24 hours so you can get quite a bit of use out of them.

For the beach, try the Tram

When to visit Valencia

We went mid May and found it very warm and sunny for the whole 4 days
