I stayed at the Victoria for 2 weeks earlier on in the month, and i cant describe the holiday other than the best holiday iv been on! I loved it that much that iv actually booked up again to visit in June along with a couple of my friends. I could not fault the hotel one bit! The food was good, the accommodation was fresh modern and always cleaned to a high standard, the surroundings were relaxing with a smaller majority of children, which was a good thing, and finally the STAFF, personally they made the holiday for me! What a great team of kind and fun people! Never came across one rude member of staff and the entertainment staff were just the kindest most energetic guys always smiling and including everyone in everything! So thanks to Donkey Eddie Spagetti Winston and not forgetting Alex!
Lovely hotel, Lovely surroundings, Lovely people! Its worth every penny!

I am just back (3rd Oct- 18th Oct 2006) from a 2 weeks all-inclusive holiday staying at the Victoria Golf resort and what can I say except it was fantastic, i have just read Gill's review and it feels like we were staying in completely different resorts. However, she went in 2002, I went in 2006 the VICTORIA has been REVAMPED and undergone MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS since 2002! so all i can say is it must have been bad before they re-did it.
Fair enough the Victoria may not be as flashy a hotel as others but they go for a relaxed and intimate feel. If youre going for a lively holiday the Victoria is maybe not best for you as it is quite quiet but if youre a couple i would certainly say its better for you than the Gran Ventana which is full of children!!
The rooms were nice and bright and certainly clean, we had a room with a balcony which had an excellent view over the grounds. Some rooms may be slightly further out from the amenities but the staff operate a golf buggy service to reception and the beach! I am amazed that Gill said the staff were rude as I found that they could not do enough for us! and the entertainment boys wel what can i say guys you need a pay rise. they do so much work to keep the guest amused and not enough credit for it.
Breakfast and lunch were good but dinner was dissapointing however there is also the pizzerria and the A la carte upstairs if you fancy something different.
Anyway I could go on and on for ages, I have no complaints about this hotel whatso ever i can only think that anyone who doesnt like the Victoria has had too high expectations. And as for the Mosquitos of course they will be around the hotel is set in a Golf cou however dont let this put u off as mosquitos will not bite everybody! during the 2 weeks I was never bitten once! Please do not be put off by bad reviews, this is a wonderful place to stay for a couple looking to relax

hi,please heed my warning and do not book this hotel if you have been to dominica before. dissapointed just dont cover it.
the main resturant is surrounded by mosquitos because it sits in the middle of apond(lake?) and so you are eaten alive no matter how much repellant you use,and the choice of food is so poor and quality pathetic.
I have been to 11 different hotels in dominica so i feel i have a good idea of standards. the rooms are ok quite good actually but lets face it thats not were you want to spend your time. the pool is so small it reminded me of the old council swimming baths of the 70s and the adults only pool will hold maybe 7 people and itsfull i kid you not. all drinks are served in little plastic clix cups even at nite and even to hold beer. 3 mouthfuls and its gone so then you have to wait to be served by really unfriendly staff i have never met rude dominicans before i have always found them to be great fun friendly and really helpful.not here tho!
we lasted 3 days before we insisted on a transfer. that year we moved to the luperon (we had to except going from 4 star to 3 star in thompsons rating but it was worth it) another couple left the same time as us and they were hit with a bill for 200 us dollers for a broken cabinet that they told reception about when they moved in!luckily they refused to pay and the thompson rep reluctantly sorted it out. we were told we could not attend the welcome meeting because we would upset the other guests that were happy to be there. that year 4 people on our flight who stayed there were hospitalised with sever stomach problems and lots of people were quite sick. why are thompson still sending people there its such a shame because there are some marvellous hotels out there
