Victoria Hotel: Could have been better! by Alex Fairclough |

If you're looking for a quiet, clean, idyllic place to stay then the Victoria is NOT for you!
When we arrived it looked quite nice until we got to our room. It smelt damp, had lumpy beds, broken patio table, poor bathroom, was shabby and did not look clean. After mulling it over we decided it wasn't unreasonable to complain and asked to be moved. We were relieved when our 2nd room seemed slightly newer and cleaner. That is until that night! After a long day travelling we thought we would go to bed early (about 1am). Only problem was that we were directly above the hotel bar where thumping music kept us awake all night!
We later found out that our bar was the only 'after hours' bar in Laganas that stayed open until 6am, even though there were only about 2 people in it! Shutting the doors and using earplugs didn't even keep the noice out, not to mention how hot it became - we didn't pay for air-con, we had already paid for a safety deposit box and a rusty fridge! Once we had spoken to our rep, she promised that she would get us moved (again!).
The hotel was fully booked so we had to wait another 2 days. Room No 3 was further away from the bar but we could still hear the music!
As for the rest of the hotel, the pool was filthy, only cleaned once a week max! It was cloudy, had bugs in it and the floor was really slippery from all the sun cream.
The location of the hotel is good, near the end of the main strip, no noise from the road, all the noise came from the residents of the hotel, people coming back about 6am, shouting, playing music etc. Our friends had to carry their suitcases over piles of sick in their corridor the day we travelled home.
The bathrooms could have been better, we couldn't close the doors of the shower cubicle as they were falling apart aand not attached to the wall properly.
I wouldn't bother getting up for breakfast unless you fancy a bread roll, boiled egg and a bit of watermelon.
Laganas is basically the new Faliraki/Malia so is packed with teenagers wanting to get as bladdered as possible. There are a few nice restaurants like Mr Dallas (fab Kleftico). There are some nice bars and restaurants along the beach front if you prefer to stay away from the madness of the main strip or if you are too hungover! There's a lovely place called Cameo which is a bit of a trek round the bay up the side of a cliff, you cross a little bridge to get to it.
Travelling home is the worst, the airport is so tiny it can't accommodate everyone, so you have to queue up outside for check-in. Then once that is done you come back outside to queue up for passport control. The reps herd you around like cattle, it took about 2 1/2 hours in all!
If we forgot the airport debacle and went back to Zante, we would probably stay in a quieter area therefore having the choice of getting away from the noise if we wanted to.

Victoria Hotel: Laganas!! by Andrew Hall 1 |

Had a really good time here though was expecting 4 star accomodation and this isn't that!!
With that in mind though the rooms are adequate, the pools decent and the gardens around the pool are pretty good.
Location is good and considering that if you do want to sleep it is really quiet!
Staff are friendly don't give you much grief and from the outside the hotel does seem pretty imposing, not like most greek hotels!!
The breakfast isn't up to much but in all fareness it is a greek breakie!! My mate ate too many eggs though never good!!
You will have a good time if you go here.

Victoria Hotel: Victoria Hotel Review by Clara |

8 of us stayed in Laganas for 2 weeks and chose the Victoria hotel, it is located in a perfect location for a young group because you are on the main strip but it is surprisingly quiet. I would never have thought the hotel was a 4 star rated property though I would have thought it might be a very good 2 star or a low 3 star. Although we did see the maids throughout our stay our room was not cleaned once and the only thing they did was change the towels and linen when asked. The pool wasn't very clean throughout our second week and there were loads of sand in it, although the staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. the pool bar had a lot of choice in it and very reasonable prices.
i would return to the hotel again but i think the major selling point it has is the location.
