Villa Barbara: Majorca's Best Kept Secret by Alan Jay |

The first time I passed the bar at the Hotel Villa Barbara, it was as the other reviewer has said, dark, dingy, and most unwelcoming.
What a difference this year. New management has transformed the place. The bar now is very light, air conditioned (as are all the rooms) and most welcoming. The staff there are very friendly and helpful, and one of the staff spoke fluent german, which is the only comment I'll make on the previous reviewers remarks. All in all this is a terrific little hotel, very clean and well maintained. Breakfast is the usual continental style or they'll cook a fresh breakfast for you. The meals are delicious. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

just found the site so am doing some restrospective reviews
my girlfiend and I booked last minuite holiday on the thursday flew Sat.
got to c'an Picafort and was droped off on the main road through the resort
( aparently this is normal ). we were pointed through a small dark bar ( more of which later) to reception. receptionist spoke passable English
the hotel has 40 rooms. given room keys - now the 1st problem the lift held 1 person and 2 cases! up to the room and it was spotless opened curtains we had the middle air shaft view
as we left the room we realised as the heat hit us the rooms are air conditioned - not bad for 1 star.
the food was good to very good - always a choice of salad and meat or chips.
there are two bars - the terrace bar very dead not much hapening
and back to the dark bar
what can i say its the only place in the resort that advertised happy hour and Micheal who runs it can make that hour streach to 3. he hates germans and is very abusive to them but as his dad owns the hotel he can get away with it
the beach is sandy and clean and the front makes a nice walk after dinner and before hitting the bars
