The Villa Real is a well established hotel in the sleepy bay of Camp de Mar. It has undergone some refurbishment this year to go from a hotel to self catering units, and the apartments consist of a bedroom, bathroom with bath and over bath shower, lounge/dining room area which incorporates a kitchenette. The kitchenette has 2 ring halogen hob, kettle toaster and all equipment needed. While the apartments are quite basic with no air con, my personal philosophy is that while on holiday I intend to spend as little time as possible in the room, so as a good clean base, and a clean bed to sleep in, they are fine.
The reception is only open for limited periods, but the staff are very friendly.
The pool area is great..no feeling of overcrowding here. We went middle of May when the hotel was only half full anyway, but the pool area really was a tranquil oasis to chill out, complete with little pool bar, which does pretty good snacks.
The location of the Villa Real is perfect, a short walk down through the few shops and you are on the lovely bay.
Turn left out of the complex and 50 metres up the slight hill is the Spar shop, the Gran Sol restaurant,and Bar Bagari.
Camp de Mar is ideal for older couples. There is no nightlife, just a handful of bars and restaurants which makes it an ideal choice for a chilled out break. The bay and surrounding scenery is lovely. The Arco Iris restaurant at the far end of the bay is probably the best value and choice for a meal, and the bar on the little island is just fantastic for a late afternoon drink after a hard days sunbathing.
The Villa Real was excellent value for money, and we would go back tomorrow
