Absolutely not

My son and I went to this hotel in July 2004, I have to say it is the worst ever hotel I have ever been to.We were there for 2 weeks all inclusive and after 2 days us and another group of people decided to eat at a little cafe down the road as a lot of peopple were going down with food poisening. One elderly lady was in in hospital for 3 days due to this.We saw the kitchen staff empying rubbish in the bins round the back wearing their white overalls that they wear in the kitchens, no gloves, nothing. Also the pool area was dirty and I never saw the pool cleaned. The food that was served outside was not covered up and there was flies all over, needless to say we gave that a miss.

The room was awful and the drians smelt of sewage. After a few days I asked for a move and the manager said he would look into it, and after a week and speaking to our rep several times we were moved into a self catering block that belonged to this hotel round the corner that was lovely and quiet at night as in the main hotel there were kids screaming and shouting and running up and down the corridors until 1-o-clock in the morning, so no sleep untill it went quiet.
The whole place was dirty and shabby. The staff were unfreindly and the barstaff NEVER smiled.

The hottub was not working and had not been for several months as it was leaking through the ceiling. The hotel is located approx half an hours walk to the beach and WHY is it called Villa marina? You cannot see the marina even if you stood on the roof. The holiday cost a a lot of money and was not a last minute deal.

I was very glad to leave and will NEVER return.

I can only echo Tony Lound's comments below. Admittedly we went right at the end of the season in the October half-term holidays and for me personally it was only my second time abroad, so I probably enjoyed it more than an experienced holiday maker. Have to say I was VERY nervous at what we might find having read some of the reviews on Villamarina Club here, but first of all the food was FANTASTIC, not so much the quality which was good, but the variety, try as I might I simply couldn't eat everything that was on offer there was so much to choose from. we took our one year old baby son with us and he LOVED the restaurant too - mainly because the girls working in there loved HIM, everyone at the hotel made such a fuss of him and was so friendly especially the hard working ever-so-flexible entertainment crew, whose efforst we particularly appreciated as we work part-time in the leisure industry too. No amateurism from these guys - total pro's!
OK the place is a bit of a walk from the beach but then we didnt go there just to sunbathe (we wouldnt have gone in October to do that!) and anyway we're reviewing the hotel here hot the town. And yes, maintenance could have paid a visit to our room for some odd jobs (a bulb here, a loose shelf there) but we did get the holiday outrageously cheap online, so to complain would be churlish. Like Tony says, "you get what you pay for" - and I think we got excellent value for money - great food, comforatble surroundings, pleasant guests, friendly staff and an enjoyable atmosphere. well done Pedro and team!
PS: An extra thumbs up to the staff member who rescued the bag I had foolishly left on the coach within an hour of arrival - thought we'd seen the last of that!

Well, 8 of us travelled to the VILLA MARINA and having lost most of my hair and bitten off the whole of my fingers with worry, (due to some of the reviews on this page)I can safely say..DONT WORRY, ITS OK!
I sometimes wonder if some people take any time to look at what they are booking or just go on the price tag, because at VILLA MARINA you get exactly what it says on the box! ITS AN ALL INCLUSIVE,ALL SINGING, ALL DANCING, FAMILY INSPIRED,BRITS ABROAD, MAD AS A HATTER,3 STAR SPANISH HOTEL. There, its off my chest now!
YES it can be noisy by the pools(2 by the way & only 1 has the games to disturb you), YES it can get busy in the restaurant (it took us the whole of 1 day to suss out when the rush was & time our meals accordingly)YES it does get full early in the entertainment room (but give SERGIO the nod & he'll get a table from the hotel down the road for you he has to).
Top & bottom of it is, this Hotel really tries, from the manager PEDRO, who is allways around, from helping clear tables in the dining room to entertaining the guests with his own unique cabaret act (only on one occassion thankfully)! to the 2 SERGIO'S behind the bar (lock up your daughters)!. The entertainments team were ever present and full of spirit but never pestered you into doing anything you didnt (really) want to.
The maids even smile!! They seem to call at the same time everyday (1pm for us) so you know when to avoid the room.
Its not all a bed of roses(is it ever!)The rooms are very basic, small & desperately in need of a refurb. Air con in my room was useless and only ONE SOCKET on the wall (me with the wife & 2 teenage daughters...nightmare),the gym has never been a gym,and the jaccuzi really IS leaking into the lounge!
All in all we had a wonderfull time and plan to revisit in the future. ADIOS

We have just returned from a last minute booking holiday in the Villamarina Club where I must admit 7 days were plenty. Flying from Glasgow to Reus we took off 10 minutes EARLY!! Reus airport reminded me of the final scenes in the movie 'Cassablanca', no kidding! It took us nearly TWO hours to collect our baggage and leave on the bus! First impressions of the Villamarina were jings! We're out in the sticks! A good 20 minute walk to the center, or £3 in a taxi. The rooms are basic but sufficient, cleaned almost at the same time every day. There were a couple of problems initially, the door lock was broken and the showerhead sprayed the whole bathroom, these were quickly rectified by the maintainance men. We took advantage of the upgrade on offer to go all inclusive for less than £6 each a day,(after sampling their local alcohol first). We've had better bar service, no smiling faces here! The food was O.K. A reasonable selection to suit most tastes. Table clearing was quicker if you did so yourself. ( It may be noted that there were a lot of guests with 'Spanish tummy', including our party, for most of the week ). The entertainment was the same every night with the exception of the odd 'cabaret' thrown in, although the resident 'entertainers' did their best. Very loud, no early nights here mate. Noise from bar area 'till 12 midnight, then the laughing crew 'till about 12.45. Reception staff were reasonably helpfull until we asked to keep our room on due to a 7.30pm departure, no chance! We actually departed from Reus half an hour EARLY too!! This must be a first for flying to and from Spain! Good on you Mytravel Airline. All in all for the price we paid for the week we could not have had much better, maybe cheerier staff, more responsible parents, (kids screaming their heads off ), nearer the beach or an airport that can handle more than ONE aircraft at a time! I'd go back to Villamarina if I were offered a similar deal. Do not be put off by other people who go on holiday just to pick faults and complain about anything, after all you get what you pay for. Adios!
