Just got back from protaras/cyprus, stayed at the vrissiana hotel for two weeks. All I have to say is 'wow', what a fanatastic holiday, both me and my girlfriend absolutley loved it. From what i can gather the hotel is one of the oldest in the resort but by far one of the finest. The staff are really friendly and helpfull, the food is always presented well and is buffet style which was great for me as i love food and you can actually tell the difference between what your eating on your plate which as you probably know makes such a change from other holidays you've had previously. There is access via the pool directly onto the beach which is also great, and the sea is so clean and clear. I stayed in protaras 4 years ago and cant believe how much its changed, it is a place we would go back to without question. The resort itself has lots and lots of shops/bars & resturants and theres always something for everyones taste. I think out of the 2 weeks we were there we only had one day whith clouds in the sky, even then they were only there for a few hours. I've worked and holidayed in many places around the world and i have to say this was one of the best places i've been to so far. Great location any closer to the beach and you would not need the lifts !! On arrival it looks remarkably like a luxury liner, I had asked for a side sea view room and got one facing the water on the right hand side of the hotel. Rooms nice, air con, TV, Fridge, £2.00 per day for the fridge alone - you could get a mini bar service for an additional fee, but we just wanted it to keep drinks cool. Pool area & pool bar nice, sunbeds run right onto the beach, nice to lie there and run in and out of the sea as the pool gets really really hot by the afternoon. Food OK - gets a bit boring by the second week, same dishes under different names. We ate out a few times - if you tell the head waiter you are taking lunch instead of dinner they are OK about it - try the Anatolia if you are eating out the food is fantastic and great value, we ate there about 3 times. Hotel is NOT worthy of the 4* rating, it is more a 3*+ but still nice, entertainment is a bit same'y, rep tries her best but has limited resources. Word of warning there is a Guy on the top floor, who lives there (apparantly used to own the Hotel before it was bought over by Aquasol group), wears a wig - he thinks he can play the violin and regularly serenades you - we were right under him - PITY - someone should tell him he's naff. Would go back as the location of the hotel is ideal.
