Just returned from staying 2 weeks at the Vulcano, and not a bad word can be said about this hotel. Food was excellent with a very large choice, cleanliness very good, entertainment every night, staff very freindly and helpful. Hotel is situated in a fairly quiet spot, but only 10mins stroll to the nightlife of Veronicas, if not plenty of other english bars, some quiet some not.
If you are looking for a good comfortable hotel look no further than the Vulcano, I cant wait to return there. You can also hire towels to use round the pool for only 1 Euro.

Having read the very favourable reviews about this hotel, we decided to go for it and it surely lived up to the high standards almost all authors have spoke of. This is indeed a beautifully appointed hotel, well worthy of its 4 star rating with the reception area decked out as a lush sub tropical garden with a waterfall and an abundance of international flora, labelled for the horticulturalists amongst us. First impressions count for an awful lot and this area exudes a warm ambiance at night with comfortable seating, strategically placed lighting, running water and recorded bird noises, but without the flying insects which would plague such an outdoor setting.

The accommodation itself is exceptionally well appointed, roomy, clean and comfortable but with one small downside namely the double bed. Although large, it consisted of two mattresses butted together which meant there was an uncomfortable ridge in the middle of the bed. This may well of course suit those couples who argue a lot and require distance between each other, but we found it a little annoying and uncomfortable. Sound insulation between rooms was good and the provision of carpets in the hallways meant that noise levels were relatively low during the wee small hours. The air conditioning was just adequate in the rooms but was far from noisy which perhaps suits those amongst us who hate ticking clocks.

On the positive side, the food was of high quality, plentiful with a varied and wide choice at all sittings with several dishes being cooked continuously on the grill which ensured their freshness. A nice touch was the microwave in the dining area for those who like their food very hot and there was never a queue for its use either. Unfortunately you cannot get even a glass of water at dinner unless you pay for it and I felt this detracted a little from the excellent service/food which was always on offer in the restaurant.

The hotel is situated in the nicest part of the resort between Playa de Las Americas and Los Christianos with good bars/entertainment close by and barely a ten minute walk to the sandy beach. The hotel itself caters in the main for shall we say the more mature guests amongst us and the 'in house' entertainment reflects this and was not to our taste, but then again you cant please all the people all the time. Lager louts were noticeable by their absence and we are sure the hotel would actively discourage any rowdy behaviour in the unlikely event of it occuring. We can only conclude by saying ' enjoy ' as you will be hard pressed to find a better hotel without paying a small fortune for the priviledge. (uxbridge)

Stayed here in February 2004. After having read reviews on this and other holiday web pages, were rather disappointed with hotel. Food was good, plenty of it, but the atmostphere in the dining room was reminiscent of a school dining hall or a 1960`s works canteen. Certainly not conducive to a romantic dinner with wine and candles. The room was massive, bright lighting, and no atmosphere at all. Also, the best part of the dining room, ie. the one near the reception hall, and near the water feature, is for smokers. (Surely this should be the other way round).

Also, it would seem that if you have a bottle of wine with your dinner (which we we did not), you are given an account slip to be handed in at the doorway on exit. Each night, on leaving the dining room we were called back by an officious young woman member of staff, shouting to us that we had not paid!!!! This was very embarrassing, and no apologies were ever made.

We were there in February, and were not bothered about using the pool. However, the size of the pool is in no way in proportion to the size of the hotel, and it must be dreadful in summer when there will be a lot of children in the hotel. Also, as usual, the sunbeds were all reserved by towels by 9 am. As 99% of the people in the hotel were British, it is clear just who it is who claim sunbeds.

The hotel is very good for disabled, and there were a lot of wheelchairs in the hotel.

If you want a sunny room, do not accept a room on the "O" level. Our room did not get any sun morning, afternoon or evening, although as it was February, again we did not mind this.

All in all, we did have an enjoyable week, but we do not think the hotel is as wonderful as others seem to make out - although that might be just our view.

The reception area however, is spectacular.

My wife and i stayed at this hotel about 5 years ago and were not dissapointed. The hotel is clean and spacious and the rooms we had were of a generous size.
Food was good and plenty of it.
The pool area is large with plenty of sunbeds.
Its position in the resort is not far from the seafront(5 mins walk) but far enough away from the rowdy veronicas area.
At the rear of the hotel is a strip of bars which offer entertainment and are lively but not 'in your face'
Only a short walk from Los Cristianos.
A really good choice of hotel!
