| Wall Street, Chinatown Review: February 2003 | | Written by Gary Daish on 26 Aug 2003 about a trip in Feb 1999.
| visited here in Feb 2003 for the 1st time since 1999 & the biggest change we noticed was the attitude of the people, when we 1st went we found new yorkers very focused on what they had to do & didnt seem to have much time for tourists but i guess recent events have changed their outlook & we enjoyed ourselves much more on this visit.
we found the subways safe & easy to use, as already suggested go to the Empire State Building at night as well as day..... MUST SEE= Ground Zero (a good view point is the Winter Garden on Basey Street). We did Statue Of Liberty 1st thing in morning & there were no queues for the Ferry or the Statue, on return walk through to South Street Port & take in the shops & restuarants etc
Sports shops provide best bargains & we didnt find designer shops much cheaper than home
Food is cheap & although most menus are the same its very reasonable to be able to eat in "themed" restuarants such as Planet Hollywood & TGI Fridays, also dont miss the Jekyll & Hyde restaurant where Dracular is on the door & Frankenstien will serve you (also great free caberet)
stayed twice 1999 & 2003 |
