Waterford Review: Faithlegg House Hotel

Four of us recently visited this beautiful hotel in Waterford and had a fantastic 2 day break. The weather helped as it was very warm and we had no rain but the hotel lived up to our expectations. It was our second visit after a 4 year gap.

The rooms are enormous (we took a suite each) and the facilities are what you would expect from a 5 star (it is a 4 star). Lovely bath robes and slippers, turn down service in the evening, fresh bottled water in the room etc.

The restaurant is excellent, the food all prepared freshly and with style. A lot of nice wines on the list to take your fancy. Breakfast was one of the best buffet style I have experienced with plenty of choice. Dinner was fantastic and we could not fault anything.

The staff are all so friendly and welcoming and make you feel special.

We visited the Leisure Centre and used the pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna every day. We aslo had some treatments, facial, massage and eyelash tint. Again performed by very professional staff who were there to please.

We played golf one day and it is a very challenging course, but not too hilly. You can hire clubs, trolley etc and they are not too expensive.

One evening we visited McAlpines Restaurant (bistro) in Cheeks Point which is about 5 minutes away, we took a taxi down and the restaurant owner drove us back in his own car. The food was fantastic with the crab claws being the biggest we have seen!!
Great steaks and fantastic creme brulee sole dish.

All in all we had a perfect couple of days. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a relaxing break with plenty of activity and beautiful surroundings.
