******'s Travel Blog !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! USEFUL 4 WHEELCHAIR USERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!***************19 OCTOBER 2005****************
To say the least!
Travelled fom Ireland to Hawaii, Parts of Africa to Mid / Far East.
I have been with my husband (Paraplegic-L1 Incomplete)for about 15 years and count myself as a good judge when it comes to disabled facilities for none walking disabled.
Keep your eye on my comments in future as will also backdate some of our travels from time to time!
My husband & I are in our late 40's, but we are young in our outlook and appearances and are openminded reasonable people. On our travels we will tell you what we were promised and what we got. This will include bookings made through speciallist disabled holiday sites.
A couple of tips if you don't already know:
1. Do not trust any disabled sites with their so called "been there and checked it out myself" info. .
2. Always start with them and check out info direct by telephone, email etc and asking for pictures and measurements.
3. If you trust a disabled site and book trips/holidays through them, ask for a letter of guarantee of the information they say they have (seen & tried themselves) checked out.
4. Then check out costs through other connections, you may find a vast difference, especially if you book flights /accommodation separate. Don't leave anything to chance!!
Bon Chance for Now. Spannerette
